The Australian Greens claim a Federal Government funding decision will condemn the Tasmanian devil to extinction.
The Save the Tasmanian Devil program has missed out on its Federal Government funding request for $4 million over four years, meaning its overall budget has been halved.
The money was earmarked to isolate healthy devils at wild locations around the state.
Experts in the area, wildlife biologist Nick Mooney, and Androo Kelly of Trowunna Wildlife Park, expressed their disappointment at the move which reflects the Coalition's lack of commitment to endangered species.
